The Prince of Wales encourages for more sustainable fishing

The Prince of Wales voices his concern about what happening with our oceans. He says that for a better future we need to know what the real state of our seas is and how to be able to better tackle situations. He also added that funds should be raised so as to support for more sustainable fishing. The prince believes that adopting more sustainable management practice will lead to larger marine catches, more job security and healthier marine ecosystems.

Fishers raise funds for sick fish tests

In Gladstone the BARRA season has started since the beginning of February but some local fish market won’t touch any fish caught in this region due to the sick creatures. One of the owners of the local market says that the fish are getting sick due to the port development. The argument was about that (GPS) the Gladstone Ports Corporation need to provide financial cost to the Gladstone’s fishing industry. The inhabitants of this region have been hit hard by this event.

Norway exports of cod hits top record

Norway hits top record for the export of cod fish and its worldwide demand continues to increase. This is a good aspect for the Norway fishing companies.  The frozen fish of the country has got an increase in total export sales.  The only fish which is facing a decline is the farmed salmon fish with a percentage decrease of 43% as compared to the year 2010.

The Michigan’s fish and other sport fish contain more mercury, report says.

After 3 consecutive years of study, a report showed that the Michigan specie and other sport fish contain a high level of mercury and this could be bad for people consumption.  It’s a major issue for some species and the human being.  It was also notice that the level of contamination varied from places to places and it also depend on the species caught.
