Since 2019, Seawork has established
two corporate social responsibility projects.These programs are collectively providing healthy meals to over 2000 people with the numbers increasing daily.

Adopt-A-school Initiative was established in May 2019. This initiative focuses on providing a healthy meal to school children twice a day.

So far, Adopt-A-School has adopted two schools, one in Aus and one in Rundu. Marmer Primary School is situated in Aus and Cocoma Junior Primary School is situated roughly 250km outside of Rundu. Collectively, 428 children receive breakfast and lunch on a daily basis.

Breakfast would usually consist of Maize Meal or Oats and fruits, whereas lunch will consist of a balanced meal of protein, vegetables, starches, and a fruit.

Due to the Corona Virus Pandemic and all schools being closed, Adopt-A-School could not resume the donations. Donations continued on February 2021, as soon as schools were fully operational.

Some of our projects include our “Adopt-A-School Christmas Bag Project”. Each child receives an embroided back-pack, basic hygiene products, stationary for “Back-to-School” as well as a small toy/gift.

The Adopt-A-School Initiative has been very fortunate in terms of donations from companies such as Plastic Packaging, Mpact, Woerman & Brock Hardware, Hydroweld, Mbashe Fishing, Omaru Fishing, Supa Marine Paints, Benguella Fishing Company and many more.

Along with the feeding program, both schools have received donations in the form of freezers, cutlery and crockery.

Both schools rely mostly on donations from the state, however this is not always sufficient to feed the number of children. Due to the remoteness of the schools, there are limited businesses/companies in the vicinity that lend a helping hand.

Future plans for Adopt-A-School Initiative

The aim of Adopt-A-School Initiative is to invite other companies and individuals in the industry to adopt their own schools based on the established foundation.

There is an endless need across Namibia.
"A Good Meal = Great Results"

The Seawork Cares team started the Seawork Outreach Program on the 6th of May 2020. The program focused on providing soup kitchens, in the Erongo Region, with various food items so that they were able to continue their operations.

Over 2000 people were fed daily, with meals consisting of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, fried and canned foods, as well as dehydrated food products.

The Seawork Outreach Program provided meals to 13 Soup kitchens spreading from Walvis Bay, Spitzkoppe, Henties, Kalkveld, Omaruru, Tubusis, Karibib and Usakos.

All these soup kitchens relied on donations from individuals or companies in their area. The donations were not continuous, and many days were spent without food or a very small watered-down pot of “pap”.

To date, the Seawork Outreach Program has provided daily meals to over 2000 people from May 2020 until March 2022..

Below indicates the number of individuals are fed on a daily basis:

  1. Learn in Peace Soup Kitchen, Walvis Bay - 100 to 150 children daily
  2. Promise Land Soup Kitchen, Walvis Bay - 300 children daily
  3. Happy Land Safe House, Henties Bay - 50 Orphans, and vulnerable adults daily
  4. Philadelphia Soup KitchenHenties Bay - 100 children, and adults daily
  5. Omgee Etes, Henties Bay - 12 Elderly people daily
  6. Colours of Grace Soup Kitchen, Karibib - They service various soup kitchens in the area. Approximately 300-400 children and adults daily. Food is distributed to Otjimbingwe and various other smaller settlements in the region.
  7. Orphan and Vulnerable People Centre, Usakos - 100 Elders, children, HIV and TB patients daily.
  8. Pastor Isaak Soup Kitchen, Omaruru - 50 elderly and vulnerable members of the community. This can stretch up to 100 people.
  9. Bianca’s Soup Kitchen - 100 Elderly and vulnerable members of the community.
  10. Jacky’s Soup Kitchen, Spitzkoppe - 50-70 adults, and children on a daily basis.
  11. Lutcsa HIV Program, Kalkveld - 300 orphans, HIV and TB suffers as well as the elderly.
  12. Tubusis Handjie Hoebeb, Tubusis - 100 HIV and TB Sufferers daily as well as other children and adults.
  13. Yvonne’s Soup Kitchen, Okombahe - 50-100 Elderly and vulnerable members of the community. Includes children and adults.

Future plans for Seawork Outreach Program

The aim is to maintain a long relationship and continue supporting the respective soup kitchens throughout Namibia, as well as extend our reach to more soup kitchens as the foundation grows.

We would like to encourage other companies and individuals to get involved with project in terms of donations or identifying their own soup kitchens to support on the same foundation.

Once again, the need is endless and the situation on the ground is extremely desperate.
